slick, I put in a trade offer on the league site. Doesn't look like you're set up to receive e-mail notifications though.

All - I am not looking for anything in particular in return, but just seeing if a reasonable offer comes my way to help me clear my early round logjam at RB:

Lacy (3rd)
Gio (3rd)
Mathews (4th)

Thanks,
Tavo

I have

Montee Ball-5th
Doug Martin-10th

Alshon Jeffrey-6th
Randall Cobb-7th
Kennan Allen-12th
Kenny Stills-13th

Bring an offer that will be beneficial for both of us. I don't need Desean Jackson in the 4th for Allen in the 12th.

Just curious, wasn't Doug Martin drafted kept in the 2nd round last year? You have listed as a 10th. Was he dropped? Are drafted players that are dropped and acquired kept at the original draft spot or as a FA in the 10th?

I had Martin as a keeper in round 2 last year, but I dropped him after his injury. I honestly hadn't thought about the implications of someone picking him up as a FA and subsequent 10th rd keeper.
I assume you can't re-acquire your own dropped player at a lesser value so not sure I hurt myself. But it did end up being a gift for another owner...

Yes, that is the way our rules are written.

I had Ryan Grant back in 2010 as my third round pick, dropped him. Someone else picked him up and kept him as a 10th rounder. It didn't make sense to me, but I was informed that is why this is a keeper league.

Really if someone on your team has an injury there is nothing you can do. Ski had to drop him because you can't keep a 2nd rounder the following year. I was having a bad enough year last year that I didn't mind the dead weight on my roster.

And no you can't pick up your own player. I tried that.

We have well written rules!

I get it. Something to think about before jettisoning a guy like that. He ends up being a freebie for your league-mates. Live and learn...

It's known as the "Hornsfan Rule"

I believe he dropped Gates after he went on IR and immediately re acquired him so he could have him at the FA cost of a 10th round pick.

I understand it may seem unfair to let another owner have him at a 10th rounder but if they're willing to sacrifice the roster spot for the season, I say go for it.

I think the only solution would be to have any guys put on NFL IR that are dropped be locked for the rest of the fantasy season and entered into the following seasons draft.

Just food for thought.....

Always love it when you have a rule named for you or adapted because of something you did. Means you are pushing the envelope. :D

On topic though, I was having a very similar discussion with a league mate in a league I commish. I agree with Scott on the roster management side of it, it just sucks if you are the owner of the injuried player. You either have to carry the dead weight or let someone else scoop up a bargain.
