Where to start on Fanduel

Postby docjr03 » Wed Oct 08, 2014 2:06 pm

okay, I've read through some of these posts, and I see that guys tend to get killed when starting out on the daily games. I just opened an account, and I'm a bit overwhelmed at the choices. What's the safest, simplist way to start out? The 50/50's? someone just point me in the right direction...preferably DSKevin! haha

*edit: just to be clear, not really looking for a lot of strategy as it's been covered, but specifically what games to start out with to start building the account conservatively

Probably the 50/50 games are the best to start on.

It will give you an idea of what works and what doesn't and will help you see what it takes to put together competitive lineups.

But you might as well enter a couple of the large $1 entry tourneys for fun. Who knows, you might be the next DSKevin

Hey Doc - happy to see you jumping into FanDuel!

Soup is right - 50/50s and H2Hs are the place to start. When doing H2Hs, you can look at your opponent's lifetime wins at a particular sport (just click on their username) ... so you can choose to avoid a "shark" if you want. Crazy that some folks have won 5,000-10,000+ games.

Thought you'd be on your yacht in the islands by now...but hey, thanks! I've already submitted a line-up I like in a few contests, so we'll see how it goes. Holy Crap is this addictive!

QB: Ryan (Matty Ice at home against Chicago? Why pay for Peyton when you got this match-up? He could go 4 TD's this week easy)

RB: A. Williams (I love his situation at Philly, who doesn't really have a home field advantage and gives the opposing o's plenty of opportunities. Williams should have a big day)

RB: Tate (they love Tate in Cle- it's his job to lose, Pittsburg doesn't scare me as a def, and Cle is high off that win last week- and he was valued pretty low.)

WR:B-Marsh (Marshall in a shoot-out in Atlanta. only concern is if he turns that ankle on the turf. It's going to take a minimum of 4 TD's to win this game, so I wanted a piece)

WR:G. Tate (Mr. Consistency- all he does is catch footballs- especially with Johnson hampered or out)

WR:Cobb (loved the value here- he returns punts, so maybe he breaks one)

TE:Cook (5-7 catches/week- I'll take it all day at his price)

PK:b]Dawson[/b] (booming them last week, in a dome with a mediocre offense against a mediocre def. My fav. recipe for kickers)

Def:Tenn (thought about spending up for SD, but Tenn at home against Jaxseemed like a good buy)

I came in $100 under budget. I entered about half a dozen contests, so we'll see how it works out this week before I start getting crazy.
