Week 8 Value Options

Postby CrackedAces » Tue Oct 21, 2014 6:03 pm

These are some of the guys that are jumping out to me this week. Each one listed is taking on a D that gives up at least the top 10 most fantasy pts per the players position. Not sure what I am going to do with my 50-50, as I really want to continue to go top end QB/WR1 combo (its worked two weeks in a row for me now), but the prices are really high. Plus there is a very intriguing combo out there:

Quarterbacks

Brady $8600
Romo $8200 (Thinking about taking him and pairing with Dez)
Palmer $7400

I think all three have legit shots at three TD days.

Running Backs

Forte $9500
Lynch $8500
Lacy $7900
Joique $7300
Ben Tate $7000
Shane Vereen $6800
Bush $6700
McKinnon $5800

Based on their values, I am really high on Tate, Vereen and McKinnon this week

Wide Receivers

Jordy $8800
Cobb $8400
Maclin $8000
Sanu $7000
Baldwin $6800
KWright $6800
Michael Floyd $6500
CPatterson $6000
Riley Cooper $5400
JHunter $5300

Tampa is giving up the most fantasy pts to WRs this year, giving Patterson (and even Jennings if you were really stretching) some great value here. If I could figure out a way to do it, I would be very tempted to play Rodgers, Jordy and Cobb, as the Saints give up the second most pts to WRs. Those three alone might carry me to a pay day, lol. Baldwin still under $7K is nice. Not sure what direction I am going to go at WR.

Tight End

Greg Olsen $7600
Daniel $5500
Ertz $5400
Reed $5200
Cook $5100

Daniel, Reed and Olsen take on the three teams giving up the most fantasy pts to TEs this year. Olsen and KBen are the only options Newton seem to have to pass to. The others I feel are high risk, high reward. I may take one though to afford Rodgers.

Kicker

Gostkowski $5400
Crosby $5000
Sturgis $5000
Zuerlein $4800
Cundiff $4800
Prater $4500

Odds are, I go with Cundiff here. If I do go with a GB stack though, Crosby at 5K isn't the worst thing in the world.

Defense

Miami $5400
Buffalo $5300
KC $4800
Tampa $4800
Dallas $4700
Minny $4700
Jets $4500

I am pretty much set on going with KC here. Right price, and at home vs a team coming off a big upset. Time for a STL let-down.

I'd save $100 and go with Dallas over KC def. Washington at home with a third string QB is pretty tempting.

Just ran the first numbers, and it looks like I can get Rodgers. I like this lineup a lot for a 50-50. Putting a lot of faith in GB, but I think its a great matchup for them:

Rodgers
BTate
McKinnon
Jordy
TY Hilton
Davantae Adams
Daniels
Cundiff
KC

All money spent. Doc, If I took your route, and saved the $100 going with Dallas, I could change TY to Maclin. Not opposed to that, especially if Wash is going with McCoy.

I think you'd be fine either way in a 50-50, although your rb's are a bit risky.

I noticed you didn't mention BMarsh in your list- he's only $7400.

Patriots are giving up the third fewest fantasy pts per game to WRs this season. They are only giving up about 125yds per game to WRs and less than a TD per game. Given Jeffrey on the other side of the field, and there is no telling who is going to score. Add to it, that I still don't believe he is healthy, and that teams are figuring out how to shut him down. 6 weeks ago, everyone thought I was crazy to recommend unloading him, largely because I felt he was injured. Well, fast forward, and since the SF "miracle" (and let's call it what it is, a miracle 3 TDs in 5 catches), Marshall has been held to under 50yds receiving in 4 of the 5 games and has 1 TD, on a play when his defender fell to the ground. I just feel his arrow is pointing down right now, and there are too many other guys whose arrows are up, to play in his place. If everything were equal, I would agree that $7400 would be a great price to get him at. Just don't like this matchup much though.

I hear ya, but to play devil's advocate, I wouldn't be too afraid of the match up. NE has played Mia, Minn, Oak, KC, Cin, Buff, and NYJ- not exactly a scary schedule when it comes to passing offenses. Also, as you know, Chicago seems to play better on the road than at home, and BMarsh is still one of the best in the game, dinged or not. I'm buying at $7400.

If you are looking at at value option at qb this week how about Fitzpatrick for your tourney entries? He comes cheap at only 6300 and he has a favorable match up with Tennessee. Certainly not for the faint of heart but saving the money on him really allows you to load up on RBs/WRs .

I like Mike Evans as a cheap WR option ($5900). He started to get going before the bye and I like his chances for a TD this week. I am definitely including McKinnon in most lineups too. He is a TD away from some really nice games the past couple of weeks and Tampa D has been a bonanza for fantasy RB's.
12 teams - 1QB/2RB/2WR/1TE/1FLX/1K/1D
YARDS: 1pt per 25 passing, 1 pt per 10 rushing/receiving
ALL TD=6 pts. PPR=1/2 pt. ALL T/O = -2 pts.
Team Bonus: 6 point bonuses if your starters combine for any of the following:
300+ passing yards, 200+ rushing yards, 300+ receiving yards
QB: Brady RB: D. Martin, McCaffery, Gallman, McGuire, Cohen, David Johnson
WR: D. Parker, D. Jackson, M. Bryant, R. Matthews, Jaron Brown TE: Walker D: Chiefs

In a GPP get Justin Hunter in there - cheap and Mettenberger is the QB now.
Slim Roethlisberger - A Show Me Your TD's Production

RubberDucky PPR
QB - Matt Ryan
RB - Lamar Miller, Ellington, Gio, Doug Martin, Duke Johnson, David Johnson, Devonte Freeman
WR - Damaryius, Jordy, JMatt, Charles Johnson, Quick, Toon
TE - Teal Julius
K - Du Jour
DEF - Du Jour

I'm sure to the delight of the DS staff I actually ended up putting KENNY STILLS   into my lineup at $5400, haha! But seriously, compared to the other guys at that price point, he seemed to have a fair amount of upside with Graham limited in a game that should have plenty of garbage time potential.

This is my first week delving beyond the rookie 50/50's, so hopefully he comes through for me. and yeah, McKinnon is almost a no-brainer at his price point, so he's in there, tool. I also liked Ellington again this week- with that fast paced Philly offense, opposing offenses get more opportunities, and he was sneaky good last week. He's not cheap, but he is cheaper than all the other #1 guys, and allowed me to get a couple big name wr's.

I have been successful in daily leagues and if its one advice I can share with people, its dont pay for a pricey QB.

That being said, Alex Smith will be starting in all of my lineups this week.

Vafides, are you referring to the large tournys, or 50-50's? I have only played 5050's to date, and to be honest, was getting it handed to me pretty good the first 4-5 weeks, taking a value QB theory. I started to analyze the guys who were winning and it became very apparent to me that the "value" qb was not the way to go. I changed to a stacking philosophy, going with Peyton/DT two weeks ago and Rodgers/Jordy last week. Produced my first to winning days on FD. This week, I am going huge stack with Rodgers/Jordy/Cobb. I realize it is a risk, because if they get held to 21pts or less, I'm probably in bad shape, but I think its a great matchup, and in primetime.

Just curious your thoughts.

With word coming out today that Bush is doubtful for Sunday, I think Joique Bell jumps WAYYY up the value list. ATL is just so bad vs the run this year, that I would not be surprised at all by a 100+, 2 TD game from Bell. If you have yet to set your lineups, I would seriously consider him for this week!

Let's throw two more out there. Khiry Robinson and Pierre Thomas both out for Sunday's game.

Mark Ingram is $6100
Tavaris Cadet is $5300

Green Bay is giving up almost 150 all-purpose yds per game to RBs along with a td per game. I am not a fan in general of Ingram, but I do like him in this matchup at this price. Cadet could be an ideal tourny-type play depending on how many catches he can get.
