Would you Split the Pot w/ this Matchup

Postby soup2345 » Tue Dec 22, 2015 6:18 pm

First place takes $2500
Second place takes $250

Normally I like to take my chances and go for winning it all, but I am not too comfortable about this years team and I am considering offering to split the pot with my opponent

Start:QB-RB-RB-WR-WR-TE-FLEX
Non ppr

My roster:

Wilson
Gurley, David Johnson, Hightower, Lacy, McCoy---(doubt I would play him this week even if he is cleared)
Watkins, DThomas, Evans, Lockett, M. Bryant
Gronk
Denver
Costanzo

His roster...his current starters are bolded

Brady
Ivory, McFadden, Forte, Spiller
Marshall, Baldwin, Fitz, Dez
Gates
Minnesota
Crosby

Would you split this pot or go for the glory?

That's a crazy prize distribution. I'd go for the split every time regardless - just too much money to lose if something fluky happens.
QB: A-Rodg, Cutler, Gabbert
RB: Bradshaw, MoJo, R. Williams, B. Scott, K. Hunter, Choice
WR: A. Johnson, AJ Green, Britt, K. Wright, M. Floyd (AZ), Ogletree
TE: Finley, Pitta, Lewis

I would play it out every time no matter what. I also like your roster better than his anyway. Go for it...you miss 100% of the shots you don't take.
teams 1 and 2 - 1 pt 10 yds rushing/rec, 1 ppr, 6 td, 1 pt 25 yds passing, 4 tds

Team 1 (10 team) - start 1 qb, 2 rb, 3 wr, 1 te
qb: Brady, Wentz
rb: Dalvin Cook, B. Powell, J. White, A. Kamara
wr: Green, M. Thomas, B. Cooks, S. Diggs, T. Williams, JJ Nelson
te: Ertz, Doyle

team 2(10 team) - start 1 qb, 2 rb, 2 wr, 1 flex (rb, wr, te)
qb: Mariota, Wilson
Rb: D. Murray, Fournette, D. Henry, Riddick
wr: A. Brown, K. Allen, S. Diggs, Crowder
te: stream

I agree...the distribution is pretty wonky. It certainly would sting losing this week

I agree. With that money, take the split. I have done splits on 600/200 before just to have the "safe" extra money. Id much rather $1375 guaranteed vs potentially only $250...

I'd also do a split with that disparity. Maybe split all but $100 or $200 and the winner gets that, that way there is something to play for.

Maybe I'm just too competitive but I just couldn't get myself to split any pot because it means I'm saying a tie is ok, which for me it's not.

Well, I offered him a split and he declined. He said he likes his chances.

Not to jinx it, but your lineup beats his 99 out of 100 times.

I like your lineup over his, let's hope he regrets turning down the split! Ours is a 700/200 championship and I've seen many split that. Good luck!

I'd split. Everytime I've turned down a split I've been burned. For us in season long leagues that have the same people coming back year after year, it really is about your name on that trophy. Sadly mine won't be on it this year. But it was last year and it took over a decade to get on there...no one can take that away from me now.
