Can somebody assist with math?

Postby bow_of_defeat » Wed Aug 22, 2012 5:18 am

Hi folks,

Here's the deal:

Having a heckuva time scheduling my new 14-team dynasty league. We've expanded from 12 teams last season.

There's 14 teams, 2 divisions and 13 weeks. Want everyone to play teams in their own division twice with one inter-divisional game. That makes up 13 weeks.

Nothing I seem to do works. Can anyone help?

I think your choices are, 1) Have everybody play everyody just once (=13 games), or 2) play double-headers vs. division rivals.

I think they are web sites (maybe even the one that hosts your league) that should be able to help you with this.

Haven't had my coffee yet, so still waking up - but not sure you can make this work cleanly.

With 7 team divisions, it takes 7 weeks to do a full round-robin - 6 intra games and one team either on a bye or playing interdivision. To do two intra games would take 14 weeks then - which is already one over your season limit

Hornsfans has a great idea with double headers - that could be a lot of fun if it was all at the end of the year or even on a rolling basis.

Postby soupcam » Wed Aug 22, 2012 1:14 pm has a free scheduling tool that can help you here. I use it every year. Also, double game weeks are a good option, just be sure to schedule them during weeks that have no NFL teams on bye.
12 teams - 1QB/2RB/2WR/1TE/1FLX/1K/1D
YARDS: 1pt per 25 passing, 1 pt per 10 rushing/receiving
ALL TD=6 pts. PPR=1/2 pt. ALL T/O = -2 pts.
Team Bonus: 6 point bonuses if your starters combine for any of the following:
300+ passing yards, 200+ rushing yards, 300+ receiving yards
QB: Brady RB: D. Martin, McCaffery, Gallman, McGuire, Cohen, David Johnson
WR: D. Parker, D. Jackson, M. Bryant, R. Matthews, Jaron Brown TE: Walker D: Chiefs

Weeks 1,2,3,11,12,13 there are no byes

Team 1 plays 2 and 7 in week 1
3 and 6 week 2
4 and 5 week 3
Week 11 team 1 plays 2 and 6 then
3 and 5 week 12
4 and 7 week 13

Weeks 4-10 you play the other division.

Please send the consulting fee straight to me.

Good luck

Sorry but what you want is impossible

you have 14 teams if each team only has 1 game outside their division that will only allow for 7 games. (7 games * 2 teams). That would mean for the other 6 weeks there would be no interdivisional games and that can't happen since there are only 7 teams in a division that would mean that either 1 team would have to play in 2 games or 1 team would be on a bye.

You can make a schedule where each team plays a team once. or you can pull off that type of schedule on a 14 week season, or you can make 3 division of 5/5/4 and have each team play in there division 2 games and fill out the rest of the schedule with out of division games. is a great website for creating those schedules
