Ahman Green, fate of this vet ?

Shocking RB stud Houston was seeking for 2-3 years.
1,000+ yards, 6+ TDs, & 60+ receptions in '07 .
Schaub falters, Green toils in mediocrity.
Hurt again, huge disappointment.

Vet Poll #2 Ahman Green

Postby Old School » Tue Jul 03, 2007 2:56 am

Poll #2 Ahman Green.

Picked up as potential centerpiece for young, exciting offense. We've never seen him have success outside of G.B.'s system or away from Favre ( One season in Seattle was decent not spectacular ). He is a PPR beast and a solid RB#2 these days when healthy. WHEN HEALTHY is the key word. Little to no competition behind him ( Dayne, Lundy , etc.. ) means he may be a safe bet to start and do well.

Green's fate inexplicably rests in the hands of how Schaub handles being starter. I can, however see him doing well without a good season by Matt.

Your thoughts ?

Ahman Green

Age: 30
Years as starter: 6
1,000 yard rushing seasons: 6
10+ TD seasons : 2
Max reception season: 73

Can a dying member of the undefeated Dolphins PLEASE Nancy Kerrigan Brady on his way out of practice ? Or Jack Ruby him. Whatever's available to you.

O.K. , O.K. , laugh if you want. I'm not a Houston or Green Bay homer, but I can see Ahman being a beast for at least a couple years. Maybe even squeezing out a 10 and an 8 TD season over the next two years at a current 5th to 6th round value. I can't see him being strong any longer than 2 - 3 years , but I don't think he'll disappoint over that time either.

If you're in PPR he's worth a shot for sure.

He'll be ok and have decent games occasionally. I'd take him as my RB3 and he'll fill in nicely on occassional bye weeks, however in that offense, he won't be anything close to a stud.

I think options 3 (Schaub falters/mediocrity) & 4 (hurt again) are much more likely than options 1 & 2...

I'd be on board with the first two items in Option 2. I'm not sold on Green catching 60+ passes this season, however. 1200 yards, 10 TDs give or take, 40-ish receptions is certainly within reach, IMO. Whether that qualifies as a stud or not, I don't know. I guess I'm saying he'll put up numbers similar to DDW's first couple of seasons in the league.

I voted for option #2 though he could easily slide into option #3, or maybe #1 (doubtful but not completely out of the question). Preseason will play a large role for me in deciding which side of the spectrum he will slide to.

I think he will be able to put up about 1100 yards. If Domaick flavor of the month last name could do as well as he did Green should do better. He will probably have 6+ TDs and should hit 60+ receptions easily because Houston is lacking in a #2 WR so Green could become option 2 in the passing game.

I don't think Green turns into Houston's savior at RB, but I think he has a very good year & surprises some. I think if you can get him as #3RB, you will be pleasantly surprised, as I think by year end his #'s will be worthy of a RB2, maybe even tail-end RB1

I think Green will match Dominic Davis..I mean Williams' #s from 05. He'll do well but have a hard time breaking into the top 10.

Davis was able to get monster numbers on this terrible team, so will Green. Until he gets hurt that is. No way he stays healthy taking the beating he will get on this team.
